A wise old Jedi told me this past weekend, “You really should update your website, people visit it more than you know.” So with that, I’ll share a bit of what’s been goin on since my last update…
It has been quite an exciting and somewhat busy summer. First the completion of Duncan Gardiner’s CD titled “Covered”. You can purchase through M-Dawg Music or directly from Duncan’s
website. More projects to be released soon from the M-Dawg Mafia include a flute album by Jason Chamakese and a round-dance album by Robert Gladue. And somewhere in there, songs are being written for a future Duncan Gardiner CD and my new project to be released in the spring.
The biggest highlight of my summer and probably my whole career took place on September 12, 2010. A young fella named Zach joined me on stage at a show in Jans Bay, Sask. He helped me belt out a couple of songs and then stayed on stage for the rest of the night as we helped back up the Voices Of The North Show. It was absolutely the greatest feeling in the world to accompanied on stage by my son, my best friend, my hero…
Next it was off to Regina where we lent out a hand and performed at the Kawacatoose FN Relief Concert. The day was filled with music from bands and artists that came from everywhere to help out. The night ended with a stellar performance from headliner Crystal Shawanda. It was a great show for a great cause and truly one of the best gatherings of the summer.
Guess I can’t update my blog without adding a bit of geek news. It has been just over a month that I’ve had my cool black 32gb iPhone 4. You know, the kind that I was going on about in my last blog? Well the time had come and the search was short and I was lucky enough to score one from a Futureshop in Edmonton. Let me tell you I totally dig this phone and I have acquired an addiction to apps for this beauty:)
Playing a few dates this summer, travelling here and there has left me wondering where the summer went. Not one round of golf this season, but there are still a few days left with no snow on the ground. Maybe I’ll shine up the old clubs and try get at least one round in.
So as I sit here sipping on my first cup and listening to Carrie Underwood, I look at my guitar and think its time to pen a few tunes. These things can’t be rushed, you don’t find the song, the song finds you. And when it does, it's like seeing a long, lost friend that you've been dying to see. So with that, y’all take care and have a good time, all of the time…
